Why Should I Install a Ruud Heating or Cooling System?
Ruud products are the best in the industry in terms of reliability and efficiency. While we service all major air conditioning and heating brands, we are a Ruud Pro Partner. Ruud air conditioners have a unique grill design that minimizes air restriction and allows for quiet operation. Each condensing unit also includes the latest scroll compressor technology for efficient operation. Their furnaces use an induced-draft blower for constant airflow through the heat exchanger. This gives the furnace combustion chamber proper venting, allowing it to release combustion by-products. For your safety, these furnaces include a pressure switch to automatically shut down the unit if the vent’s airflow is restricted.
What Can I Do to Lower My Heating and Cooling Bills?
While an energy audit may be the best way to identify opportunities to save on your utility bills, installing an energy-efficient HVAC system and keeping up with regular maintenance is a good place to start. That includes keeping your air intake vents clear of debris and having your filters changed regularly. You can also have a programmable thermostat installed. That way, you can do things like turn down the heat or AC automatically while you're asleep or at work.
How Often Do Furnace and AC Filters Need to Be Changed?
Filters should be changed every six months. If you have pets, allergies, or live in a dusty area, we recommend bumping that up to every three months. Keeping your filters clean will extend your system's lifespan, prevent breakdowns, and improve your indoor air quality.
When Should I Replace My AC or Heater?
While the useful life of heating and cooling systems varies by brand and type, most last between 15 and 20 years. It also may be time to replace your unit if you’re seeing a drop in efficiency or experiencing increasingly frequent breakdowns, especially if major components are beginning to fail.
Do I Need an Air Filtration System?
Most HVAC systems do have some form of in-built filtration, but it’s often a single filter and may not be sufficient to provide ideal indoor air quality. Nearly every home can benefit from additional filtration. Good indoor air quality will not only relieve allergies and prevent morning stuffiness, but it will also extend the life of your HVAC system and reduce the frequency of breakdowns. Our team is happy to help you evaluate if your home could use a new air purification system.
How Does a Heat Pump Work?
A heat pump doubles as a heating and cooling system by compressing and decompressing gas to move heat. When you want to make your home warmer, the pump extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it into your house. If your indoor air is too warm, you can reverse the process to pump the heat outside. Heat pumps are safer than other heating systems because they operate without combustion and don’t produce any fumes. Their air filters also remove contaminants such as dirt, mold, dust, and spores as they move heat from one location to another. Heat pump systems are incredibly efficient and rely on a renewable energy source, significantly reducing your utility costs.
